Meet Nate Schwager
Where is your hometown and did you grow up around farming?
I grew up in Orchard, Nebraska and have been lucky enough to come back and make that my home for my family. I grew up on my family farm raising corn, soybeans, and rye. I currently grow corn and soybeans today.
What are your clients asking you about today?
They are asking how they can make money on their crops with prices where they are today. I’m able to leverage Silveus’ tools and products along with my years of knowledge to help our customers better visualize risk for their operations. I’m able to help them analyze their input costs, projected yields so that I can better assist customers when making insurance decisions.
What is your approach to customer service?
I believe communicating with our growers in every aspect of crop insurance is pivotal whether it be new products, claims, or changes in the industry. My approach to customer service is to ensure customers know that I’m on their team, no matter what the weather brings.
How long have you been working at Silveus and what do you like best about your job?
I started with Silveus in 2011. I enjoy working in the agricultural field and talking daily with farmers. The best part of our business is that we get to connect with growers from different fields of life and we learn from them just as much as they learn from us. And that makes my job worthwhile.
What are you most excited about?
I am most excited about the private products that we have to offer customers and look forward to them taking off in the near future, some of them include margin protection and production cost insurance; these products will change the landscape of crop insurance.
What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?
My kids have a pet lizard and I am terrified that the thing is going to get out of its cage. But seeing them happy makes me happy (but I’m still terrified).
