Growing up in Northern Indiana, Karen developed an early appreciation for agriculture and the hard-working men and women who make their living from it. She earned her undergraduate degree in education, followed by a master’s in educational psychology, before relocating to the South Dakota area.
Karen joined Silveus Insurance Group in 2026, bringing a unique combination of strong communication skills and the ability to break down complex information into clear, easy to understand insights. Her background allows her to meet producers where they are and help them understand their options so they can make informed risk management decisions based on their specific operation.
Karen focuses on working with ranchers and livestock producers, utilizing her experience in the Livestock Risk Protection (LRP) and Pasture, Rangeland, Forage (PRF) programs. She takes a listening first approach, working to understand each operation’s goals and the risks they face every day, then helping build a risk management strategy tailored to their individual needs.
When not working to help her ranchers with their risk management strategies, Karen enjoys spending time outdoors; hiking, camping, fishing, running, and more. She also enjoys roasting and preparing her own coffee.
