Meet Dale McCray
Where is your hometown and did you grow up around farming?
I was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana and moved to Pensacola, Florida at a young age. I still had a lot of family in the area, so as a kid we would spend summers back in Indiana with family.
What is your approach to customer service?
Most of my clients end up being personal friends of mine, so my approach is to be truthful and honest with every business decision we make and to make sure they are comfortable with those decisions.
How long have you been working at SIG and what do you like best about your job?
Fresh out of college my brother, Chris McCray, suggested I should work for Silveus. After talking with my uncle, Steve Silveus, I moved back to Indiana and started to work right away. I have been with Silveus since the fall of 2003. I have had sales positions in the past, but working in agriculture and the relationships I have made with farmers over the years have made my job that much more enjoyable.
What are you most excited about?
Every year something changes in our industry, sometimes good, sometimes bad. I guess the excitement is you don’t know what the year is going to hold and you adapt and execute.
What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?
Well, being married and having two kids, it seems that I have spent more time in the kitchen in the past couple of years than in my whole life. And the fact is, I realized that I love to cook! I cook mainly outside on the grill or smoker, but making different recipes has actually been pretty fun.
