Annual Forage<\/h2><\/h1><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Annual Forage (AF) insurance plan is designed to meet the needs of producers planting annual forage crops for use such as livestock feed or fodder. AF intended uses include b<\/span><\/span>ut<\/span><\/span> are<\/span><\/span> not limited to grazing, haying, grazing\/<\/span><\/span>haying, grain\/grazing, green chop, grazing\/g<\/span><\/span>reen chop, silage, or <\/span><\/span>earlage<\/span><\/span>. P<\/span><\/span>remiums are not valued by t<\/span><\/span>he intended u<\/span><\/span>se<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

AF <\/span><\/span>is based o<\/span><\/span>n<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span>rainfall index data provided by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Climate Prediction Center.\u202fWith <\/span><\/span>AF,<\/span><\/span> producers <\/span><\/span>are able to<\/span><\/span> insure annual forage production value by dividing their l<\/span><\/span>iability across a series of two-<\/span><\/span>month intervals an<\/span><\/span>d insuring based on the Expected Grid Index representing the average precipitation data for the Grid ID.\u00a0 Each grid has a historic precipitation index calculated for it for each of the two month intervals dating back to 1948.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0The policy is designed to insure both irrigated and non-irrigated acres.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>
