Meet Gordon Clark
Where is your hometown and did you grow up around farming?
When my cousin Brent Clark and I were about four years old our dads left Shallowater, Texas, just outside of Lubbock and moved to Dumas and started growing corn. Our families have lived and farmed together there from that time on. After we graduated from high school, both of us went to college at Lubbock Christian University and on to Texas Tech after that. Then I came back home and Brent and I have been in ag-related businesses together ever since.
What are your clients asking you about today?
A dialogue we have all the time with our customers – and Silveus has been great for this – is about the new products available in the marketplace. Our customers want to know about the best tools, what is new, what will help them to stay in business and remain profitable. We are always trying to stay on top of those private products and new products that are coming out and Silveus helps us do that very well.
What is your approach to customer service?
We take a pretty aggressive stand, going out and consulting with our customers, finding out where their risk and perceived risk is. We also connect with clients with our affiliated company Silveus Financial to provide a total risk management solution. We strive to put our clients in touch with the people and resources to ensure long-term success.
How long have you been working at Silveus and what do you like best about your job?
I’ve been with Silveus for more than ten years and appreciate that they put exceptional tools in our hands. When I visit with a client I have complete confidence that I am giving them the very best the industry has to offer. I have good tools and great people working with me and I am very familiar with what the risk is like on farms because I have been involved in that side of the business as well. I love knowing that we have great products and great people to take care of our customers.
What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?
One time I was the assistant coach for a couple of guys who were in a mixed martial arts (MMA) match. I had no business doing that but the main coach was a friend of mine and he had to have a second so I went with him – and to my surprise, I had a ball!
