Meet Andrea Metz
Where is your hometown and did you grow up around farming?
I grew up in Southeastern Ohio in a little town called Reedsville, situated on the banks of the Ohio River. As a teenager, I worked on the “river bottoms”, which consisted of tomatoes, cabbage and corn production. Through this experience I gained a love for agriculture and crop production and chose to go to Ohio State University to obtain a degree in Agri Business.
What are your clients asking you about today?
Whole Farm Revenue is the hot topic today. Also, on the forefront of most producers’ minds are the innovative ways to protect revenue in a volatile market.
What is your approach to customer service?
I service every customer, large or small, the way I would expect myself and my family to be treated. I am very transparent in conducting business and have the best interest for every customer and every decision we make. In this competitive world of crop insurance the only two ways to differentiate yourself are through service and knowledge, so it’s game on!
How long have you been working at Silveus and what do you like best about your job?
I’ve enjoyed a diversified 20-year career, including seven years as an agent with Cargill Crop Insurance prior to joining Silveus. I met with the Silveus family and staff and I realized their approach and culture was a perfect fit for both my career and family goals. Since joining Silveus I’ve been impressed with how the company cares about employees as well as customers. They’ve created a very warm and welcoming environment.
What are you most excited about?
I’m excited about meeting new faces and exploring new areas outside Ohio, Indiana and Michigan. I have an interest in becoming more involved with the PRF program and diversifying my current book of business. I am also excited to explore all the Silveus product offerings with my current customers.
What is one fun fact about yourself your co-workers don’t know?
I love to cook and pride myself on creating homemade meals for my family. We raise our own beef, pork and chicken as well as a huge vegetable garden each summer. I preserve, can and freeze my garden bounties so we can enjoy year round. I am very frugal and rarely ever go to a commercial grocery store.
